What Is It?

At Westwood Clinic, we seek to provide our customers with the latest in cutting-edge technology. Too often, we hear from Los Angeles, CA patients on their initial visit who are fearful of the “twisting, popping, and cracking” commonly associated with chiropractors. When visiting our Los Angeles, CA offices, you can rest assured that you won’t ever have to worry about these fears.
Our Los Angeles, CA locations all have Sense Technology, which is an FDA-approved, NASA-designed technology that analyzes your spine and delivers precise, computerized chiropractic adjustments. Our patients find that this treatment is incredibly useful for increasing spine mobility and relieving pain.

How It Works

Our Los Angeles, CA offices have something known as a Pulstar. This adjuster checks for things such as joint fluidity, motion, and rigidity.

With a simple scan, the machine can identify whether our Los Angeles, CA patients have a spinal vertebra that is too fluid or too rigid.

This machine provides your chiropractic technician with pinpoint measurements, isolating problematic areas much more quickly than manual procedures.

Once the Pulstar has identified the problem areas, it uses a precise oscillating force with a constant motion to increase the mobility of spinal segments.

Los Angeles, CA patients can rest assured that there is no cracking, twisting, or popping.

 Pulstar

When a chiropractor palpates your spine, they are checking for joint fluidity, motion and or rigidity. In a similar fashion to palpation, the Pulstar can determine whether the vertebra's motion is too rigid or too fluid. The spine should not be too rigid (hypo-mobile).

Instead of utilizing the doctor's judgment as to what areas are hyper-mobile or hypo-mobile, the Pulstar measures precise levels of motion. Therefore, the Pulstar can isolate a problem area faster and more accurately than manual procedures.

If you have ever “flinched” at something, you know exactly what is meant by this. The piezoelectric sensor in the Pulstar instrument responds and registers information faster than your body's ability to react. Therefore, a precise and accurate picture of the extent of rigidity or fluidity of each vertebra is reflected.

Cutting-Edge Technology

A light force is introduced into the vertebra to check motion, it is reflected back to the piezoelectric sensor, which measures the reflective force, sending it to the computer for interpretation, all before the muscle can respond in its normal way. This is the same technology and same type of instrument that NASA engineers have used in the space program in order to evaluate the integrity of the ceramic cooling tiles on the outside of the space shuttle. The aviation industry, as well as civil engineers have used this technology in order to test metal fatigue in aircraft and bridge spans.

The Pulstar utilizes a precise oscillating force with uninterrupted motion. It is able to increase the mobility of the spinal segments by reducing or enabling motion in the abnormal areas, all without twisting, cracking or popping that you would normally get with a manual adjustment.
